multi-site, summer-long tournament will get the whole province playing

As the days get longer, golfers across Ontario are gearing up and anxiously waiting to take their first swing of the season.

But this year, there's new kind of golf game in town, one that could very well set a new world record. I'm talking about the Ontario-wide, summer-long Last Golfer Standing tournament.

Through the spring and summer of 2010, golfers across the Province will challenge one another, regardless of how far away they may be. Through the online Last Golfer Standing portal, golfers can create their very own golf community and compete with one another hundreds of kilometers apart. Players can build their own personal leader board so they can keep track of their progress and also see how well friends and family are doing.

The tournament was created to allow golfers at all skill levels the ability to compete and communicate with eachother in one easy, online forum. The ranking system of the tournament is based on score averaging which means players of all ages and skill levels will be competing on one level playing field. Anyone can become the Last Golfer Standing.

Here's how the competition works:

Golfers register online at www.lastgolferstanding.com to gain access to the user portal of the site where they can book tee times online, invite friends to play and create a personal leader board. Players enter their game scores into the system using the score card to keep track of their progress and the scores are then used to determine the golfer's handicap. Then, there will be the “Big Day of Play” on September 25th, 2010, where everyone will come together and play in the same game across the province and the winner of the Last Golfer Standing Tournament will be announced.
